    I've never seen gel that's been labeled or packaged as "brushing"...

    It either has wax in it or not.

    Now, Ive sprayed, rolled, and brushed gel, and i listed the applications in the order in how flat they layed when applied...

    I tried using a roller on a little project, and kept fiddling with it and ruined the finish. Wound up sanding it all back off and sprayed it.
    I've tried spraying gel with wax, and had satisfactory results,
    This last round, i sprayed it without wax, then let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then gave it a good coat of PVA.
    i was very pleased with how it turned out.

    I hadn’t heard of it either but I picked up materials today and it says “brushing gelcoat” on the can so I thought I’d ask. I’ll check the label tomorrow and post what it has in it. I’m pretty sure it said wax added

    I just filled the holes in my transom to change from a stainless marine setback to a porta. Drilled all the new holes yesterday.

    blued and block sanded between every grit. Took it to 1000, then buffed it. Pretty happy with it, considering it’s mostly underwater at idle.

    I meant going to the porta bracket is the best addition to your boat. You doing good work too hula....I have had porta brackets on my guide boats for 20Yrs. Not many around when I bought mine. BTW, still using the same ones! Still work great. New power units and some paint is all I have done to them.

    Gotcha. Yea, Scott is a wealth of information and a good guy for sure. I’m pretty fortunate to have landed where I did.

    Cool info thanks! Im in the office now pretending to work so I can use the comp not the phone lol. Label says;

    Gelcoat, production brushing.
    Protective surface coating with UV resistance. Unwaxed gelcoat is designed to be brushed against the mold surface when fabricating a fiberglass part. Rec thickness 15-18mils. Surfac remains tacky for up to one week.

    This is what my supplier gae me to use inside the hull over the core etc. What I was wondering is aside from not being waxxed is there anything about "brushing" gelcoat as this is called that makes it different? Can I spray it?
