sterling 17
i have a Action Marine 16 and am looking at a Sterling 17. i have not been able to find much info on the Sterling.
My Action belonged to Tony Brucato and runs 72 with a 130 Evinrude. The Sterling has 175 Evinrude and runs 60 according to seller. i hope to get the speed into the 70's.

...XTL hull number prefix? it was made by bob ackerbloom up around sanford florida. he moved around a bit. its a pop of a 17 hydrostream v-king. bob, as many small warehouse boat companies in the 70's & 80's in florida did back then, popped all kinds of small existing performance boats & called them they're own. some altered the deck design, others didn't. sterling was just one of many company names he used back then. he went out of business many times as well, just to start up again under a new name. most of these guys all eventually fizzed out for good. not bob though. he's still making boats today under the gambler name...and he brought back also the sterling name that he also builds another line under. he must like the name...

...back in the day he also made carraza boats, a copy of the 21 shadow, a couple different mod vp tunnels, a pickle fork tunnel, a donzi copy, one or two different california type jet boat hulls, and on & on... his bass boat & flats boat copies did him the best financially though & got him to where he is today.

The usual drill with old boats. Have the core, floor, and transom checked for rot. Most old boats need to be restored. Some have been restored. The remaining one is a unicorn
