I ran the Bob's plates on my Scarab with Monty V8's and never had an issue after 10 years. Seems like given the amount of movement, and all in one direction, I'd venture to guess that one or both of the jackplate to transom bolts on the port side were loose, broken or gone.

I could almost walk there and no thanks....
Gordon got a good vid of lighter motors 5-6yrs ago. Same issue and it was not pretty.

similar to the Yamaha nizzpro stuff well powerheads atleast. The nizzpro guys were at the local dealer Gause built dave said they never had a failure rod piston nothing. The crank and valve train on the 4.2 are over engendered which is good when your adding 175hp to a production f300.
just went through two 100hr 2019 f300 cases for an insurance claim and they are stout but I see why nizzpro makes the big shafts carriers etc. the weak points are obvious. Surprisingly similar to the sportys also.

To each their own. Looking at the video it looks like the plates are twisting laterally in their slide channels. There are bolts that hold the two side extrusions together and I can't see the plates twisting unless those aren't tight enough, not allowing the plates room to move.

Pretty sure Those are the redesigned extreme plates they were brand new on a brand new boat. Gordon assembled the engines and rigged the boat you know his attention to detail. They all move nature of their design bobs just move a lot. This is Probably why they just came out with a completely new design I have no experience with the new billet design but they obviously knew there product was lacking.

Did ya`ll notice that even though the jack plate is junk that the transom on that Rapid Craft wasn`t even scratched! Rappid Craft boats were build very strong.

So you think Bob’s ships the plate with a bolt missing or the person rigging it doesn’t tighten them? Everyone knows why they break or flop around including bobs hence 2 total redesigns (copy of torrente cough cough)
I’ll text Gordon to check but I’m 99% sure the extreme series flopping around in his video are rated for motors 200# heavier than the 16” 3.4 250HOs in the video.Last edited by baja200merk; 02-18-2021 at 11:14 PM.

The Bobs plates on the RJR that Gordon was running kept them from running any faster . I have a Bobs on 2 of my boats and it does move some and all the bolts are in and tight and 1 has less than 15 hours total . The only plate that anyone has run on the super stock 32s were Porta Plates and they got banned guess they were to good .

This was actually a feature I was working on with Dale Wagner, the guy that built the turbo. But COVID hit and put that on hold.
