What is it like for us ordinary & lead-footed drivers to drive a real Formula One car
This is one reaction of a fan, operating a 15,000 rpm engine with 6 gears.
Your strapped into a rocket ship.
The engine idles at 9,000 rpm.
The brake pedal is the firmest you have ever pressed.
On the track;
His chin hit his chest and he had a hard time lifting his head, when he slammed on the brakes.
Most people (from the street) cannot withstand the cornering G forces after 3 laps.
After his 3 laps, in the pits the crew said he applied only 40% of the brake pressure.

Well, I've driven a NASCAR Cup car, with gears that only let you get to around 140...maybe.
They make you let off the gas for the corners and these aren't Cup engines either. The instructor that rides with you was trying to get me to pass the guy in front but I was having more fun catching him, letting off the gas, and catching him again.

There's a great segment on the original Top Gear where Richard Hammond tries to drive a F1 car. Those things look incredible, I want to try haha.

I did a F1 drive at Barcelona GP track a few years ago, mid 90's cars.
Yes braking from about 170mph its just a switch and your stopped.
Makes you appreciate f1 drivers pass under braking but its all over in less than a second.
We were limited to corner speeds so we didnt kill ourselves.
