    Working in a big bureaucracy

I have over 30 hours of meetings a week, and get hundreds of emails a day. This is normal for my peers at work and at the car company I work with most. It is of course bonkers. Are all big companies like this?

30 hours of meeting sounds like they are not effective.
I used to work for an investment bank, nice because they are business minded.
I hated getting dragged to a meeting that was wasting my time so I got my boss to get the global head ( we were all in the head office in London)to agree that to book a meeting room there had to be an agenda.
    and
Minutes typed while you talk and you signed them when you walk out.
That made a meeting 1000% more effective.

( how did I get from fixing outboards in OZ to investment bank in London..long story)

Where the meetings about bacon? Was bacon served? If not I suggest you have a meeting to propose meetings about how to incorporate bacon into future meetings.

My international corporate employer (former as of October 31 when I retired) seems to have discovered Microsoft teams when we all went home for coronavirus. I don't have as many meetings as you, but the regularly scheduled meetings every week and every month ramped up incredibly covering things we just never addressed before. And this in a job where I am expected to meet certain billable hours requirements and none of those meetings are billable. Thank the Lord, that is all in the past.

    Per my hero Instigator:

"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."
