Ecm nut needed

Ok. I got my oem Merc nut in the mail and went to put it onto the harness. But just how do I do that? I assume it just snaps on . Bit dang! I'm a big guy and pushn pretty hard and no go.. maynee because its 10° here but whats the trick?
