    FVRC - Tavares FL - March 19-21 2021 Event Cancelled

    Notice from Dave Richardson - FVRC President

    FVRC Spring Regatta

    It is with deep regret that we, the Board of Directors of the Florida Vintage Raceboat Club, announce the cancellation of our March 19 through 21, 2021 event. We waited till last evening to make the decision. The board voted unanimously to cancel the event. There were several reasons that drove our decision;

    First and foremost is the undeniable fact that the COVID-19 epidemic is actually getting worse in Florida. Lake County our host now has over 21,000 cases which is a very large increase from only a couple of months ago. We consider the health and safety of our members and participants a major responsibility.

    And then, in regards to safety, we must have an ambulance with medical personnel attending the event. Lake County and other ambulance services have suspended all event services due to a lack of personnel as a result of COVID-19. We also tried to find a private ambulance service, inside or outside of Lake County, with no success. This was an obvious event-stopper.

    We are also seeing an impact on the volunteers that are so necessary to support our event. They are obviously reluctant to attend events even when outside.

    If you have already registered for the March event we will either refund your entry fee or apply it to the November event at your discretion. The November event is scheduled for November 12 through 14. Please mark it on your calendar. If you have a hotel room please remember to cancel it and make reservations for November. We have reserved a block of rooms for November but books early as space is limited.

    We had all looked forward to seeing you our boating friends and getting back out on the water for some hot laps in March. We are very sorry to have to make this announcement but will make November an event we can all remember.

    Dave Richardson
    Chairman

    Have you run it yet? I have never seen a Missle with 1400s on it. Back when they were being raced they usually were rigged with 1250s. Be very careful, I have only seen one twin engined Missle that didn't blow over. That was because the guy running it couldn't figure out how to get it running fast enough. From looking at those photos it looks like you have that one rigged to be plenty fast. Great looking restoration. Magnum didn't build them that pretty.
