Rich Sutphen is probably the best source for info. He's been setting them up for over 30 years. PM me your email and I will send you what I have.
Keep well.

...thought so. it has been my experience racing multi-engine outboard offshore with 26 degree v-bottoms, that they are very hard on gearcases. they get up on they're high horse & rock back & forth at speed, while exiting & re-entering the water, making it harder to throttle. the constant loading & unloading is tuff on propshafts, bearing carriers, props, etc... old school experience. if you are never running much in the rough, its not "as much" of a concern.

I have ridden in a 26' with sterndrives and it didn't chine walk at all. Solid as a rock. Did porpoise at low speed a little. 2 Small blocks and alpha's turning thru hubs. Had tabs also. It ran 70+...

yeah stream, gotta be a faster boat & they will rock. its of course how any boat is powered & rigged. they are all different. two right hand alpha's...no. ...on a 80-85 plus mph triple outboard 26 degree V? yes. boat rides real high. gearcase muncher.

Yeah, factor in the X-tra speed and the boat will be wanting to lay on it's side. I was thinking old school speeds, and less than 500 hp, not the 800+ hp of today's mills.

I always liked the Sutphen Rum Runner. Every now and then you see one pop up with twins but it would be cool to see how a V8 300R tall boy does on the 26 footer with all that torque. Might make for a simple fun set up that eats big rollers.

Richie Sr. told me that the 26' was his favorite boat to run. Big enough for the chop and small enough to be easy to use.

I saw one for sale not that long ago...
We were in Cape Coral a couple months ago and tried unsuccessfully to find their old factory.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
