    Q about 300R fuel / water separator.

In the Mercury manual it mentions a "boat mounted" fuel-water separator.

Is anyone using a Racor type filter? And if yes... a 2-micron or 10-micron?

Yes, I have one and I also got rid of the primer bulb after I did the initial start up. It fires instantly with the big lift pump. 10 micron filter-

Yes I thought if they mentioned it in the owner's manual without any warnings like for the Opti I should have one. I got a few of those in the barn, gives me a project for the afternoon.

If you have one with the WIF sensor I’d recommend it, as there’s a harness and input for it so you get the warning if water is present.

Yes it says to move the sensor from the on-motor filter to the on-boat filter. And that makes sense. I don't have a bowl with a sensor... yet.

But with the see-thru bowl I can check water every use and drain if necessary until I get it set up correctly.

Would it not be better to have the primer bulb to flush the water out of the fuel filter?

Not sure what Joe has but mine has a clear bowl on the bottom with a drain cock.

It’s a restriction in the fuel line and makes the fuel pump work harder.

Biggest choke point in most fuel systems is the anti siphon pc in the fuel pickup. Filter is nothing compared to that one. Put a vac ga on your fuel line, and check it.
