Tried to watch it online but it kept freezing every few min. so I gave up.
I was having a problem with the power outlet for my TV. I ended up replacing the outlet but the race was over by then.

That is why Youtube hours later, is a nice alternative source.
After 23.5 hours of racing, they are still racing for the Win!

Cool thing too, between the two cars battling for the overall lead at the end, their team overs have a pile of wins between them.

The team that blew the tire, Wayne Taylor, had two sons racing too.
One won his class and one was on the team that blew the tire.

Wayne was a bad ass on the track in the ‘80’s.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

...man oh man, so long ago mr. fun. i remember next to nothing about it honestly. no, was not a driver of course. as you mentioned, was a crew guy timing laps for just hurley, etc. and then talking to him via headset... women in a big fancy motorhome we were in, fed us food & hot chocolate all night in between naps we all rotated on. pitch black out & remembering hurleys porsche was the only one the entire race, as he would drive past me, that both his rear low slung turbo's were glowing bright white-hot in the dark, from pushing full boost. what he was known for. on our way to the race from palm beach area, we stopped in at a porsche dealership on southern blvd., south side, close to I-95. (unrecognizable area nowadays) not sure, but it might have been named "palm beach porsche" and was new. also not sure, i think it was a new location/dealership for peter gregg, to add to brumos jacksonville. i could be wrong. i think it was peter that took us into a private side showroom & there he had his personal collection of a half dozen cars. one was the extremely rare race car, a flat twelve 917/30, lite blue. worth a fortune even back then. one other car in there was the very first porsche 928 in the united states. they had not even come out with it yet to the public & was a prototype. it had a leopard skin fabric patterned seat material. of course, the other unique thing i recall of the new 928, was the large recessed "porsche" name that they put into the very round rear impact bumper, which looked like a hershey's chocolate bar name. this idea was a first in auto design. thats about all i remember other than everyone were such nice people, which impressed a young guy like me.
