Mercury 245/260
I recently purchased a very nice set of OEM Mercury 260 pistons to use in a rebuild in my 245. After a good go over and comparison of the pistons i discovered the exhaust cut on the skirt of the 260 piston is about 1/4'' narrower than the original 245 pistons. My question is do i leave them alone or machine them to the same specs as the oem 245 pistons. I am converting this motor to a Laser EFI setup. Thank you--Tom

Drop one in a cylinder and see how it matches up.

Thank you for the reply--I have decided to send the 260 pistons and 1 port and 1 starport 245 pistons to a friend of mine and have them machined matched up. Hoping it is the rite choice, the block ports match the 245 pistons
