Nice tasteful paint job. I like it. Too many boats now with wild grafix and such. A couple hundred thou for power and rigging and it will be hauling butt (wearing bikinis) somewhere.

You mean DW, no MTI probably just coincidental that the running surface is only 3 inches longer then Doug's 36...

Sure do everything was based off of a 36. Stretch and pull, expand and shrink. I give him credit for the numbers that he produces, the quality and attention to detail- "he is one of few builders that understand their customer base and actually boat with them".

Gas prices don't affect guys buying new 39 cats, its the rest of us that it affects "everything comes on a truck, train, or boat and all of them use fuel". We know who ends up paying the tab---that was another thing that Trump was on top of and OPEC had respect for him because he stood up to them. I already miss him.

Are you saying the 34 and 39 MTIs were based on the doug wright 36? Not to challenge you but I'm pretty confident the 34 MTI was on the water before the 36 wright performance was even released? I could see MTI taking a close look at the 32 doug wrights and their success and used that for their design on the 34. Also the new 37 DCB running surface seems to have a lot in common with the doug wright boats.

Not what I am saying at all. Randy's cat stuff all started off of a 36 skater design and was stretched and widened. The 34 was his deal, the 39 is only 3 inches off of a 36 DW and runs as well as a 34, the 37 DCB is "as you said" very close to a DW. Look at all of the MTI hulls previous to the outboards and the running surface design is very apparent. Peter was the designer that set the bar for decades with the 24, 28, and 36 until his stuff was copied. Now DW is the designer that has led the pack the last 15 years and has new product coming out that will keep him in front until its copied again.

A 28 skater was the fastest twin powered stock outboard for 25 years consecutive until DW designed the fat cat 28. There is nobody else in history that has held on to a class like that. Doug is getting close as his 32s ran high teens in the early 2000s and there is still no other 32 that runs with them today as Shawn is proving to the world.

Got ya and thanks for clearing that up. With regards to the Fat Cat 28 it certainly looks great and I'm sure can put up big numbers, I have not heard a lot of reports on them as far as overall ride. Does the wide tunnel create more hop?

The doug wrights are top performers for sure. I wish Skater would build a newer outboard specific small model with a running surface similar to the 438 and wider tunnel, but I'm not going to hold my breath as they seem to stay plenty busy with the ultra high dollar big IO boats.

You can drive thru the hop "there are videos that Brad Zastrow posted showing the boat from 20 to 115 and I don't think it hopped once". Warlock Dave here on the board has one with 300R motors and they were in his boat.
