considering how quickly he took that, and the NGK schedule down I'd assume it's not something that they want posted just yet.

Im a little cornfused by the lack of support for these engines. 9/10 OG gofast guys still run the V6 two stroke Mercs and while I get the fact that the new and improved four stroke era is in full swing GM still sells sbc and BBC crate motors and blocks and all sorts of parts at reasonable prices to support the ones who supported GM for all those years. Why does Merc not do the same? Market demand is present so? I remember clearly the first crate motor I bought from GM, it was priced about the same as a rebuild but brand new GM plus good heads and cam etc made it a no brainer. GM sold and continues to sell tons of those crate motors. Maybe this might pass over the eyes of someone who can see the market, the love of a strong brand and the passion to care for the most dedicated long standing consumers of Merc products and make this all happen? Or not
Lots of old OMC stuff to buy and modHydrostream dreamin

Although I'm an OMC guy, I genuinely always liked the 2.5 Merc series, so I think this is great news for the sport overall. There's a reason that 2.5-based motors still have such a fan base. Does anybody know what this replacement motor equates to as far as previous models ? I'm confused because it says carbureted, but also says Formula-1. So is it an S-3000 type block, or more like a European XR2 offshore carb race motor ?

Interesting. Would be nice if they start producing the 12” midsection again too.

Can you use a slide intake or factory EFI on one of these, or just carbs? Just for personal, not sanctioned racing use.

There is a 2.0 and a 2.5 class. I'm sure they're trying to keep the series alive with limited supplies of new parts available.
Yes, entirely possible to go back and forth from carb to efi on any 2.0/2.4/2.5 with the right parts on hand...Josh Peterson

This block is most closely related to the FF 200 block. I heard that the pricing will be somewhere around $7,500..... again that is what I heard. It will be available to F1 teams and land n sea dealers. I'd be curious to see the availability of these once it officially gets released. I also saw that BVI who just started selling a billet 260 front half is working on a billet 280 block. With how reasonable the pricing was for their front half I assume the pricing for their 280 block will be very attractive.

Other than the block and front half all the components were still being produced. It just took someone to put the original molds back into production and assemble the rotating assembly.

Does any one know what the difference in weight is between the new F1 Mercury and the old F1 2.5 . Most tunnel boat racers do not like a lot weight up high makes boat top heavy and changes center of gravity very quickly.
