After the first call with Stan I had to tell my future wife Jamie this could be the perfect engine from the right person! So with her help we rounded up all the cash we could and pulled the trigger.

Stan made the trip up with his stunning 21 Liberator so we could pull the engine here at my shop. Everything went smooth save for one stainless nylock on the jackplate that gave us a run for the money. After that I threw it on my engine stand that I had originally built to hold my 90hp Yamaha hahaha! With a few fast mods it worked and I brought the package home.
You should try to get ahold of Blake Sewell over here in Canuckistan with the 118 m.p.h. 24'. He is very good @ set up!

Don’t know where to start but I must make a comment on this transaction. The main reason is all the very positive comments TJ had to say about myself. Thank you, TJ.
I bought my Liberator from Randy (well known here) and he rigged it. That’s reason enough not to mess with it. Great boat and engine and set-up by the best! But, being days away from turning 70 years old, I told my wife this is “my last go around” and I wanted to get the new 300R. She said she heard “the last go around” at 50 and 60!! What ever! So I placed the ad on my “be loved” Scream and Fly. The next morning, a fellow named TJ called. Besides the transaction, that went as “easy as Sunday morning” for both of us, we hit it off. In many multiple phone calls we had two things in common. First, a love of performance boating and second, we both strive for perfection in our boats and equipment. If anyone here deals with TJ, in the future, you will find a good honest guy that will actually listen and care about your concerns! Rare today, although, not unlike many on this site!

My biggest concern was the engine removal. TJ assured me that his shop (could eat off the floor) had all the tools and equipment necessary (and more). Also, TJ and his friend had all the expertise to do the job. His friend was awesome to watch, working at a slow steady pace being careful and respectful of my boat and my former engine. When the engine was removed all remaining hoses, cables and power steering hook-up were wrapped, tied down, and secured in and outside of boat. How many wire ties? Don’t ask. Ready for the next big trip! Job well done and even wiped down the back of the boat, although, there wasn’t a spot or scratch on it! Thanks TJ, you guys took great care of my baby and I appreciated that!! My only regret is I didn’t get to see his new boat. His boat was at a different location and with the time constraints it wasn’t possible. TJ said he’d post pictures on here with his new motor. My 300XS has found a new mate (Tuff 24) and a great new caregiver (TJ)!! Happy ending for all. Thanks again to Scream and Fly for making this all possible!! Stan

Well I still cannot figure out how this forum turns photos 90* every single time.

Anyhow, the 300xs is on there and wired up. Shifter in and cables ran for shifter and foot throttle. I love the Seastar jackplate and the smart stick setup for the jackplate trim gauge! Super clean!

Working on mounting the trim cylinder and oil tank now. Made a nice light weight oil tank bracket. No need for heavy billet anodized stuff with fancy logos and ball milling hahahaha!

Steering hoses should be in on Friday.

Thanks for the kind words, Jamie rocks for sure!
We were back at it the last few nights as the steering hose came in finally! So steering hoses in and purged of air, and a patched together rigging tube lol. The stuff from Harden marine will not take the slightest twist or bend with out tearing open. Lesson learned get the Merc stuff, or maybe some Mcmaster carr searching is in order.

I will be on the search for some fittings this morning for the water pressure gauge.....and.....it.....should.....be....ready......for a water test? High of 47* here today?????

We will start with Stan's favorite prop. Merc Bravo 4 blade 32p.

Fired up on the hose this morning and all was well. Jamie and I went out and launched the boat idled out about 300 yards from the dock and she died! In the back of my mind was the fact that i ran no primer bulb in this setup.....trying to save weight haha. We were towed back to the ramp and Jamie made a quick run to the auto parts store to get a primer bulb. I had everything on board to get it installed. After a 30 second install and a couple squeezes the 300 fired up instantly. We decided to let it idle at the slip for 15-20 min to make sure it was good. So after 5 min I decided it was time to go...yes impatient. We had to run about 5-8 min through a no wake zone till I could put the boat on plane. We only made one lap as it was only 42 degrees F with a north wind. I had the engine too deep below the pad on this first leg and it was not riding the pad well at all. On the way back with the engine up another few inches it rode perfect on the pad and we made a nice little run at 70+mph with little effort.

Jamie's life jacket might have been a bit small though?????
