    Optimax shift shaft bushing removal

Having a difficult time trying to remove the shift shaft bushing assembly from my 115hp optimax. Is this fixed to the shift shaft or should it slide up the shaft for removal? Have a seal leak and wanted to replace the bushing assembly without having the shaft move out of the shift cam. Any trick to this?

That bushing should just pull out. Often they are quite stuck. hold the shift shaft down and pry up on the bushing, work your way around. I would count on replacing the whole bushing not just the seal.

Thanks for that. I guess it is stuck and I do plan on replacing the whole bushing. First time doing this and I am a little gun shy.

Thanks for the guidance InjectorService! Bushing Assembly came out with a little coaxing. I kept the shaft in place using a racheting-strap to keep light pressure on the shaft while I used screw drivers to pry the assembly off. Worked like a charm.
