Sea Dek ?
Hey guys I have been looking at maybe doing some Sea dek or comparable product on my cockpit floor. A couple dealers have the template for my boat so I guess there wouldnt be on laser measuring charge. Have any of you guys messed with this stuff ?. I always hated cockpit carpet, But floor can get hot. I could see using this stuff when doing a restore for flooring. Does this stuff hold water or is it a closed cell?. Also wondering about prep before laying it, Like wipe the floor down with like lacquer thinner and go. Has anybody also tried to peel it up if say it got damage??.

A propane torch and scraper should get it off just don't use the flat roof kind of torch
unless you want to file a insurance claim.

I have looked at this also but only want to do a some of the cockpit. Anyone know if you can template it and they send you the pieces already cut?

I’m looking at it too.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

It's nice flooring, but the darker stuff gets hot as a pistol..... we get a lot of boats in with the teak replica color and that stuff gets real ho in the sun.

I have Aqua Tread flooring in my 2400 Pulsare and put it down myself. I also sent the company some templates I made and everything came back and fit well. I cleaned the floor with acetone and then alcohol. I have heard that it is a mess and very time consuming to remove it. For that reason I would probably go with snap in Aqua Tread flooring next time which the company said that they will do. Of course getting the snaps to align perfectly won't be fun either.

As a youngster I cut my feet up pretty good stepping on God knows what under water, one time running down the beach I cut my big toe open like a knife blade did it, was a dead fish scale just under the sand, from then on I always wore sneakers, lot's of boat shoe's, if beaching it those slip on water slippers. I've never liked or wore flip flops, protect those toes. now back to spending $2,000 on floor covering.

...as far as the go-fast offshore cockpit floors/soles go...lonseal is what the big name builders have used for years. their loncoin was popular forever, they started the trend years back, but they have lots of choices of surface designs you can choose from. there are companies that have knocked it off & sell it for less... send them a kraft paper pattern, or just order the length off the roll that you need & cut it yourself.
