ID:	480076I let this old motor new rebuild idle for one hr. I had 3 gal of mixed gas in a can and it only ran for 1 hr on 3 gal just hard to believe that it all went through a jet but I did hand sand the bowls until it leveled up with the two stands in the center of the bowl all gaskets in new kits are the same thickness the intake take side of the carb was very bad to. WH-20 carbs specks I found on them said it was used only two years 1980-81 225 hp that's 40 years of being bolted together and on the block good reason to be warped.... and I have all new floats and seats in the carbs

ID:	480361I went and ran my motor today 2.5 mercury did some changing jets timing but same thing bad gas rattle on take off didn't run good after planning off I came home and checked the gas I have used the tester many times always had the 10 % alcohol on any gas I checked but this gas looks to have no alcohol in it. This tester has water in the bottom to draw the alcohol to the water and it does it very fast if their is water in the bottom of the under ground gas tank it does the same thing as the tester and the gas is bad all this time I was thinking it was the motor but looks like bad gas. Boat sat for two months motor n machine shop I removed all old gas from my boat tank and put fresh 93 oct gas n and its been hell new motor just not running right .

max alcohol in gas is the 10 % by law it cant go over the 10% and that makes octane in gas this gas has no alcohol in it I have never tested gas that didn't have the max 10 % in it the 10% mark on this tester is showing it has no alcohol in this gas I just put in this new block and it will not run right just like car on bad gas its rattling on accelerating from idle very bad I have never put gas in this motor that did that I think the new gas is bad I only have 3 hr run time on this new rebuild and it not running good on the new gas I just put in a dry clean boat tank.... if the service station has water in the unground tank it does the same thing as a tester does it pulls all alcohol to the bottom of the storage tank and the gas goes bad

It's called "phase separation." Gas and water don't mix. If you add alcohol to gas the mixture will absorb as much water as the alcohol can hold. After the alcohol absorbs all the water it can hold the alcohol/water mixture will drop out of the mixture. You're left with low octane fuel on top and alcohol/water mixture on the bottom.

Empty the tank, flush the lines, clean the carbs, reassemble with fresh gas...

Ok not familiar with that tester. Yep bad gas. Probably If it’s nocks bad gas or it wasn’t what it said it was. Normally 93 non alch will run good. Often better then 91 non alch. Nitro will get it good for you.
