ID:	480352All right.......This might be stupid question but I will explain why I asked it. I know the boat only runs 70 mph ( we did get 85 mph with a head wind and a chop on the lake one time)

Does the spoiler on the back of the boat create enough down force to be a problem holding the back of the boat from getting out of the water?

Short story. Have fast race cars...outlaw street. Had a 1967 Camaro ran 8.00 at 165 mph no spoiler. (20 years ago much faster now)
I put a stock spoiler on it lots of down force. At about 120 mph heading to 160 mph it lifted the front tires off the ground about 6" going thur the traps.

I had a Mirage don't remember there being that much up sweep on the back of the boat. Maybe should have.

Thanks again everyone for your help. Ed

I use a 12 foot long absolute straight edge hold it flat to the bottom of the center pad thru the center of the prop shaft that's your true neutral. Put about 8 feet of the straight edge on the pad you only need enough straight edge to go to the end of the prop shaft. For some reason I think the scorpion pad goes all the way flush with the transom is that correct

The first pic with the level you have a dent camera side. If you can find it push on it it’s probably soft.

    other then that motor low.

what’s the gears in the lower.

Sporty is the wrong case for a sub 85mph boat, more so one that needs positive trim to hold the bow up.

Believe me when the bow decides to come up on those boats, it doesn't need any help staying up. The centers of lift are all wrong both aero and mechanical.

You had to throw out some shorts?

I will try to answer all questions.

Stroker, I will do what you said today or tomorrow. Thanks

Motv Yes I saw the dent in the level, just in the boat hull not soft. 1:87 case.

Dave, had a CL on it and hit something in the water and cracked the scag so put the sporty on it. No real difference. Was hoping the boat might run 85 to 90.

Captain yes always carries the bow. Any chance you could PM your phone number to me?

Dave We have not thrown out any shorts yet. Joey has pushed it to far a couple of times in my opinion. I like a challenge but not at the cost of hurting anyone.

    Thanks guys

Cool As long as it’s in the water it will drag you down some.

I just did some prop theory if I did it right your seeing up to 30% slip

thgats either from air getting to the prop (bubble water) or getting to high. Or a physical issue like spun hubs. Or a tach issue and your not turning close to 6000-6500.

No I moved the motor back and up as high as it would go. Took the interior out it weighed 220 lbs just to see I knew it was heavy.

I never received response about a 5 blade prop for more transom lift. Might not have enough torque to pull that off.

I can move the seats back about 12" wonder if that would help in any way?

Waiting on Jim Russell's book....slow mail. He is really smart might need someone to read the book to me.

    Thanks

You might want to think about bow lift to get the boat to fly. You might want to see if you have a notched transom to determine the amount of setback. While driving the boat into a headwind with slight wind shop did the boat run better, is that correct? You’re boat is talking to you but I don’t think you’re listening.

You are right. Might wax the bottom to kill some time. Might head south. I had it out testing in November.

    Thanks Dave

I’m trying to remember is the scorpion the one with the queen wave issue. I wish I could be positive.

basicly this issue was the length of the outrigger bow wave intercepted the center pod. This pulled the queen wave in front of the pod never letting it clear the water and it pulled more and more water as speed increased. No solution was found. You can also think of it like a pontoon with water hitting the deck and frame braces.

I think someone added the race cat flap to one but I don’t remember if it worked. ( the flaps close in the back trapping air.

im not positive this is your boat just one I remember from back in the day.

a wing could keep it down.
