Looks like the jackplate is mounted really low on the setback bracket too. That’s got to be dragging like hell in the water coming off the pad at speed. That’s probably acting like a built in “water brake” kinda thing. The first thing I would do is remount that as high as possible and maybe put a plate across the bottom of it running all the way to the transom to serve as a skid plate. That will probably help with planing too. The fact that it’s already adjusted to its maximum height also doesn’t allow you to raise the motor, which defeats the purpose of the jackplate anyhow.

Yes the boat came from upper Michigan. Had a 225 Johnson on it. Should have left it on the boat.

The video is where I had plates made to move the engine closer to the back of the boat which did lower it. I did move the engine up as high as I could. I was trying to move the center of gravity forward.

The engine only RPMs between 6200 and 6500. That is with any prop so I know the props are not the problem. Looks like I need to put the engine back to where it was and mount it as high as possible.
I moved it forward to change the center of gravity. It handled about the same with the motor back that is why I tried moving it forward.

Have you measured prop shaft height in relation to the hull? Get a 6 or 8 foot long straight edge of some sort and hold on the bottom of the boat sticking out towards the motor. Where is the prop shaft in relation? Prop shaft 1 inch above the straight edge would be a good starting point. Moving the motor in and out etc. probably has very little impact compared to the motor being too low. You may need to hang the motor on a hoist and remount using different holes on the bracket. Would be a good time to get the jack plate somewhat centered in it's up and down range. I've added and removed 12 inches of setback to a hull and it makes a difference but setback changes I don't believe are going to solve your problem. You've got a more fundamental issue in my opinion.
disclosure, I'm assuming the center pad on your hull is even with or lower than the side sponsons for the 1 inch measurement.Bullet CC w/ 225 Promax - Sold

If you run 6200-6500 with 5” change in pitch your on a rev limiter as best guess.

Yes that is what I did. A straight edge to the tip of the gear case. Made sure the jack plate was centered up and down so it would have the same amount of travel both directions. I also set the jack plate gauge at the half way mark on the gauge so we would know that was the bottom of the hull. The center is lower. Thanks Ed

If that is the one from the Oscoda area there is something wrong with the boat. Same gel scheme and trailer I remember, it was 12 -13 years ago and it was a very light lay up hull. Anyway PM sent.

Man that motor is just struggling. My 21 Daytona with twins has 10" of setback, 1.5 above. Sorry to hear about your issues, my 260's scream.

I know your frustration. I have a 20' Baker Rampage which is similar to your boat that I bought minus engine to beat on as a Enduro boat.
Its challenging to make a performance pleasure boat run north of 80mph with full interior, subfloor, carpet, saddle tanks, stereo stuff and a bow you can walk on.
The first boat is purpus built lite layup race hull probably 500-600lbs. Mine was stripped of everything and came in at 850.
Even though we both have to weigh 1350 without driver or fuel the lighter hull can postion his weight for better balance and CG.
Try a 26p Trophy and test it and send it to Mark Croxon he is known to build fast bass boat props that can carry a load. Maybe try a wedge between motor and setback.
Try testing with someone opposite of you in the rear seat. If you can remove rear decks, seats whatever is removable to lighten your load. test with lite fuel loads.
Your porposing may be caused by not being able to carry the bow. You said you were able to run against the wind and carry the bow. You may not be able to compress or pack enough air to carry your bow.
We are going to add pieces of wood to the top of our tunnels to try to compensate for our weight and test. Our boat came with 1" of squish in the tunnels. I have heard STV's have 2".
Weight is a speed killer. In my option your LU should be even to slightly below until you figure out a decent safe setup. Hope this helps
Also the white boat ran a stock 2.5 EE with a 28 chopper 1/2 below and ran low to mid 90's. We struggle to reach mid 80's and the boat ran wet with a ported 2.5 with LU 1/2" below
