I'll feather it in anyway, can't hurt it, so it's a nice smooth leading edge with a smoothly radiused edge rather than a flat face (which I "think" is shovelling the water up at lower trim angles) and post how it goes.

    Happy New Year to all.

Sounds like you need to go farther back, setback, and farther up.

If you need too much trim , your rooster tail issue, it's because of a cg issue, or prop issue to help carry the bow with less trim. You clearly have set up issues. They won't be solved with a grinder. But please let us know how it goes!

Let me be clear here, I am not reshaping my lower, all I am doing is tidying up the vertical leading edge with a small file. There will not be any grinding. The vertical leading 3dge of my lower is as blunt as buggery and I am just tidying it up.

Well, it's a winner. Spent about 3 minutes fairing my lower unit leading edge with a hand file, and my spray is gone, with my boat running beautifully. I didn't have to lift my engine 6" as suggested, it's not too low, A/V plate is about 1 1/2" above the water line at 40.
Obviously the leading edge was just blunt enough to push the water up.
Didn't even have to reshape it with a grinder......

    Happy days

Good deal! From 1 finger above to 1.5 inches with a couple flicks of a file.
