Joe Michelini's alien Quincy 6. Joe was the Air Marine Special guy. He also stacked 2 4 cylinder Yamato 350's. I think the 4+4 didn't work because the top 4 twisted the crank on the bottom 4. Had he realized that and spot welded the bottom crank, it may have worked

I still can't figure out why they didn't use diaphragm carbs like the later OMC racers (and the 6 extras on the Michelini monster).

Wow you guys must have had a blast with that stuff.

Hey Zonker, is that the C6 motor on your boat?? Do either of you know what year that might have been?

I took a better look at that powerhead. No bottom cowl pan. Just a couple of pins up top. Did you just drop on the cowl, pin it and let it shake?

This is some pics. of the last V-6 comp. motor from 1991 before they added weight to the class. Ran gas & nitropropane. It,s on a 250 lb. vector with a lot of mods done to the hull. Under 1000 lbs. race ready.

The one pictured is on a Checkmate tunnel. One C6 single pipe motor was run on the original Miles master tunnel at Parker in 1970, and the next year was run on the first Zonkercraft ( Sunshine ) tunnel. Both were a handful to drive. Much later,I felt that it was probably because they were both run with the MC1 gearcase. The Zonkercraft was much more responsive with a Super Speedmater. Just my thoughts
Yes, they only had the drop over fiberglass cowling. The lower pan came later, after they chopped off the tiller and ran cable steering instead of Rideguide

Diaphram carb were thought not to be able to keep up with the flow demands of the C6 at the time Dr. Morgan was developing the motor. Not sure if that was tried or just dismissed out of spite. The later C6/T2's ran more predictably with the Tillisons, which were more available, and at lower cost, than developing the Morgan carbs.

I also ran it in unlimited class on spray. The last place I raced the vector at was a narrow bayou with not much room for error. The boat launched a little to hard & left the water for about 40-50 ft.,when it all ended I was laying across the barge for the lights. After that little blip they made me start on the outside of the marker buoys real close to the bank. By the way thats the only one that I never blew over or got wet in yet, & it has seen 120,s. I have most of my old engines stored so I will get some pics. and post some cool stuff tomorrow. By the way the speed is true, be glad to prove it because I still have this one ready to go. Thank,s to all who post and Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!!

I came down for the Winter Ntls yrs back and my friend DaBull was testing my friend T-Rex’s 250 lb Laser w/a ground on 2.5 on spray.
Bobby was just coming in from a pass and saw me and asked if I wanted to give it a try.
    I said, nope
