Mercury 300xs HT tuner + poppet valve diverter?
Hello,
Just orderd a hydrotec tuner for my Mercury 300xs I have already a DBR flash and lightweight flywheel and was looking for a tuner that helps a little above 6000 rpms (And offcouse the sound ) read good things about the Hydrotec and found 1 second hand never installed.
My question:
The package I orderd include also a poppet valve diverter. I am a little affraid that my mid section become to hot any expierence from people that went the same way? Will the paint go off or just more cleaning work? I will use my stock 20 inch mid section.

Just a update, it runs fine after 2 years no problems with heat on mid section or loosing paint ,mid range better and sounds like a beast. Installed both poppet valve diverter + Hydrotec exhaust tuner

do you find it a bit lazier on takeoff? when i switched from stock tuner to hydrotec on my 250xs a hesitation developped when trying to get on plane. i taught that maybe the shorter lenght of the tuner vs the full lenght I had now needs more exhaust pressure to ''fill'' the can and push it out the exhaust.
I've since switched to a 300x and kept the tuner. seems to still have that hesitation on takeoff. and i need all 8 PVS holes open on trough hub props to get the prop to spool up and get on place.1998 charger stv. 225 promax. -sold-

Hi ,
No for me it works little better with holeshot but I use small hub props and need to put throttle to the floor (small exhaust loose bottom end torque and gain hp high rpm). But mid range and higher rpms its a lot better for sure. Think through hub props its a way harder due to less exhaust gasBoat: Hydrostream virage
