    98 Johnson Faststrike 175 conversion to 200hp

I'm running high elevation in New Mexico at 4,000 to 8,000 and I'm in search of more hp without re-powering a 19' Ranger bass boat. Can I swap the carburator to a 200 Venom or similar OMC and call it a day?

My prop is a 23p Raker (too much pitch for a high elevation 175) so with a 200 it should be perfect. Any ideas for a low cost add on of hp in my situation? Anything else needed in conjunction with the 200 carb, and will it fit under the same cowling?

If you have any parts for sale which could benefit me, please message me. Thank you! -Bryan

The 200 is a different block design and thus different carb set up that will not fit your engine. Has the engine been rejetted to run at elevation, if not that would help.

Thanks racer, yes I've gone with the high elevation jets, but still stuck at 50mph with decent setup. If I were to purchase a 200 OMC powerhead, would it bolt up and be ok with my stock lower?

The 200 powerhead would need mod to mid section, new adapter plate, lower pans, upper cowl, different drive shaft/shift shaft to name the main items. Would be better to find a complete engine to mount.
