No wake zone - how much is too much

It’s an hour of 6 mph from my lake to the next lake north. Would I risk building up carbon in my 200XS ROS doing this trip? It would be out, then 40 mph for an hour or three and then back.

Man, the no wake zones I deal with are a couple hundred yards at best. If I had to spend an hour in no wake, I would likely put the boat on the trailer and relaunch where I wanted to be.

Cannot answer for your motor, but mine starts smoking after a few minutes of idling so it very likely is starting to build carbon. It is a very light amount of smoke, but you can see it.

Not fully following you. You are saying on occasion you want to go North to another lake, and it takes a AN HOUR to get there because you have to go 6mph? After you get there you can only go top speed of 40mph for the entire time you are there?

Yes it’s an hour of no wake zone from Lake Couchiching to Sparrow Lake using the Trent Severn canal system. You can find these lakes, rivers, locks on Google if you are curious. If Sparrow is calm and wake free, I can go as fast as I want briefly. Then it’s river running and a bit tight for real speed. Very scenic though.

Great scenery, some locks to pass through, it’s a nice day trip. I can take our ski boat, but sometimes I have too many passengers for one boat

But why are you limited to 40mph when you get to Sparrow? 40 seems low even for a tight lake.

It’s the River running where 40 is fast enough. Narrow, curves, other boat traffic, it’s not a place for high speed

If you were able to bring it up to WOT for a period I would not be concerned but that is a full day of low and slow. Two strokes need to clean out!

I did the run several times with my XR4. I trust the direct injected engines less.

Idling should not cause carbon buildup as the cylinder temps are to low.

200 XS should be able to handle that. Sophisticated fuel delivery in those things.<object id="__symantecPKIClientMessenger" data-supports-flavor-configuration="true" data-extension-version="1.0.1" style="display: none;"></object>__PRESENT

We’ve done the run a few times with Etecs, but these have warranty. I thought maybe the 200XS was more finicky as it’s a high performance motor.
