    Change oil on sportsmaster

    Hello.
I wonderd, how does one change the oil on a sportsmaster lower unit?
I cannot see any plugs at the bottom of top of the lower unit. Are they behind the steel plate above the caviation plate?.

under prop shaft, large flat head screw (drain plug), top right side of case, another large flat head screw (ventilation).

Note that you have a sportmaster with a straight skeg. That one is for twin engines. With a single engine, your boat will not go straight.

The drain plug is still below the prop shaft, though

Do you mean this skeg (red circle)? How would the angle of this skeg affect the force in the motor?Click image for larger version.

The skeg for singles is longer and has what is called a torque tab: It is thicker on one side to add pressure from the water to compensate for the torque from the rotating propeller.

if you have two counter-rotating engines, the propellers cancel each other out and you don’t need torque tabs. That is what your lower is for.
