Another non-widebody resin infusion at Hellkat Powerboats
resin infused boats are stronger, lighter and thus faster

Looks like wet sanding to me and It don't look like he's using a block? clean pull?.
I hired a guy from Miami once he said his dad owned a boat company in Miami (Cuban) he said he had lots of experience I told him and a helper to wax a mold once when I came back one hour latter he was waxing and the other was wiping the wax off the problem was they weren't allowing it to dry, I said what are you doing he goes wax on wax off, I told him he was beating off and not getting anything done just wasting time, his reply was you know how hard it would be to do it that way, I told him to go away he believed he was right, this was a day after I told him to add glass to cover the tubing to support the mold like the above tubing picture as I was walking up to him he had a gallon jug of MEKP and was just free pouring it into a gallon of resin, I said you got to measure that! I know what I'm doing he said and as he was applying it on the glass it was smoking because he had way to much, well I had fresh gel-coat skin coat in the mold that he warped because of all the heat he created... idiot found out latter he drove to Miami a lot
because he was a coke dealer...Last edited by CUDA; 12-31-2020 at 12:29 AM.

I almost read it as "Hellcat", thinking it's getting a pair of the 700hp Daimler Chrysler motors that are going into everything Chrysler these days. STILL BADASS!

...its best to finish the plug as perfect as possible. then any work on the mold is minimal, such as small repairs, etc., and then your not also breaking the hard mold surface of the cured mold with sand paper... agree also on the first wax procedure on the mold. but, believe it or not, this is how most of the cuban crews do it, that wax on/wax off way... it works but they have to wax the new mold about 8 times...minimum. hey, they get paid by the hour, right? worked with cuban glass guys for decades. you name the release agent & i've used it. polyvinyl alcohol(pva), polyvinyl chloride(pvc), all the newer petrol/silicon/wax based agents, etc...always came back to mirror-glaze #8 mold release wax.

...and yes, a measure-matic is the only proper way to catalyze resin or gelcoat, when hand applying...

One time I tried a new product ... I dumped the rest away, I knew what worked for me...WAX just let it DRY
I cheated the first mold I made, The guy from Magnum Venus that was selling me the Gel-coat and chop gun was at my shop that first time, I forgot what I paid him but I
should have given him more he walked me thru the proper way to do things.
And pulling my first two molds I was scared ****less because I heard some awful story's, my deck mold was simple flat easy, the bottom is sharp 90's corner alter sharp corner
and I just did as I read and Both came out PERFECT nothing stuck just waxed and made boats, one of my fellow racers worked for Master Craft boats those high-end ski boats
He worked the early shift spraying all those fancy metalflake designs in the mold,
So I paid him to show me how to get things apart, drilling holes to insert fittings to hook up air lines to push apart..ect...
The second pull was that intricate hull, after we got it apart he was underneath inspecting the mold and was shaking his head so I'm worrier and ask WHAT's WRONG
He said NOTHING for as complicated as your hull is I'm speechless there is nothing wrong, I work with some of the best and they sometimes have problems with much simpler
hulls, Yeah I spent a lot of time to make sure the plug was perfect, when you use that black Duratec primer and add clear gloss It shows every imperfection, my molds have
always been ready to go because I was so anal

...no one knows this little story about don aronow. n.e. 188th street shop. he was making his first "duplicate" 27 magnum hull mold, as he was making a lot of 27's & needed a second mold to increase production. don was always open to hearing new ideas or products. a salesman sold him a "new" parting agent. the 27 hull plug AND the new 27 hull mold stuck so bad they could not be separated. he tried everything. he floated it to the middle of the deep canal he was on & sank it. its still there today. no one knows it there.
