I am running 295 70s with come out to about 33x12.5. Running Handkooks and they are great in the rain.
If you hydroplane, either you are driving too fast for the conditions or have worn out tires.

Oh yea, forgot to mention I have 3 small Broncos so far. Two '77s and one '74. Also have an extra set running gear and frame...
I have an early '90s 5.0 HO and an AOD I salvaged to go in one. Stroke it and build the AOD?

I checked out a 70 bronco that had a complete frame off resto at a buds shop a few days ago. New 5.0 coyote and 6 speed auto/w 4x4 from F150. Looks better than new. Claims to have 70k into it.

Well all my goodies come in front rock krawler, 3.5 in lift, and 35 in tires , wife wouldn't let me put 37s on it lol
From all research I've done , I got the most or real close top of line lift, and they sayin it drives better than stock
I guess we shall see , I need get this done this weekend so I can get back to the boats , never would had thought a dang jeep would side track me ha. Also I went with a 8 ply d rated tire this time to get more wrinkle/fold when air down off road, just won't last quite as long as 10 ply e rated on road

I'm use to the long wheelbase wide track of big GM. Every time I get in a Jeep it's like a 12' aluminum boat in whitecaps, good for the trails. Those little Bronco's are about the same. I think if you crank the wheel over at a stop and start circling you can get it on two.
Those E aren't real 10 ply unless the tread ply sum and the sidewall sum add up to 10. Probably a 5+3 , 8 ply with a false E 10 rating.
The ratings come from puncture resistance on the tread. Sidewall doesn't play into it much. How they construct the sidewall determines some if those low pressure flex running on rocks.
The compound and depth mostly determine life of tire.Last edited by FMP; 12-02-2020 at 06:18 PM.

You might as well do beadlocks while your at it. You air down stiff tires and they will roll right off the rim.

I've got 2 different sets thats 10 ply with e rating , new tires r 8 ply d rating. Not understanding the false e rating, only reason I dint do Beadlocks cause it came with nice set of wheels , maybe later on when they get scuffed up pretty good , i can tell the sidewall is little softer on new tires

Which brands, look at the actual sidewall at the bead, small print ply count description, it will have the number and makeup of the ply. Not the letter comparison letter rating.
You can have 8 ply tires with E (10ply) rating, the letter is a comparison rating only.
Best is load lb rating at psi, that's the real world.
As mentioned above, same size tire, both 8 ply 5 tread + 3 sidewall. One has a E rating with 3200lb at 60+psi, the other better tire has 3400+lb at only 45lb but is rated D and has many other advantages over the E comparison rated tire.Last edited by FMP; 12-03-2020 at 10:50 AM.

Bias tires are much tougher than a radial as far as sidewall strength.

Friend of mine use to have a Jeep, back in the late 80's, with a 350 in it and 35" tires. Cool looking Jeep but rode like a basketball.

Replaced the original springs with some custom springs. It sits up good and even rides good. We have a place that re-arches and custom builds them here. Bilstein shocks too. Drives like a sports car.
