Just a heads up, if you can find a 26P 15" five blade, it would be a better place to start based on all of the 250, 300, and 450 motors that I have been exposed to. They really like the 5 blades and need the dia. to stay hooked up and run high. I know Randy has one in stock, I don't think that Hill makes anything lower then that.

Have Johnny follow the "RPM step up" recommendation mentioned in the owners manual regarding break in operation and the ecu will calibrate itself much faster.

Congrats on the new power, I am anxious to hear how you like the torque addition...

    Joe

Yea, I'm struggling with that one! That's the current name of the boat too.

Im real curious why mother merc wont warranty the 250r with a wingplate. I would imagine it be in their best interest to have a safer setup. I dont know much about the 4 strokes but id imagine the 300 and 250 mids and PH mounting are the same. I could be wrong of course

Its less that they won't warranty it with a wingplate and more that the wont sell it with a wingplate. The wingplates on these engines are built into the powerhead, heavy disassembly would be required to retrofit. I agree its probably very similar to the 300R, which they will sell with the wingplate installed. Long and short of it, they want you to buy the 300.

Johnny reports that they're closer to getting her into the water. Anybody want to guess if the new speedometer has enough range to it?

Might have to update the hour meter too.

Yea, it's on my list. Good catch though. I may actually replace all of the gauges while I'm at it.

I highly recommend the VesselView 702/703 or 902/903 if you have room.

The one in my dash is 702 and the GPS is built in, tach and Speedo are analog looking with digital display as well. The column I have on the right is configurable, and has water pressure, water temp, oil pressure, oil temp, fuel economy (MPG) and fuel burn rate. The bottom has fuel remaining, and if you touch the number, it’ll show what’s in both tanks.

I put new digital senders in my tanks and spent the time calibrating each one at the gas station (zero, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and full) and they’re deadly accurate.

It’s nice to switch between charts and dash, but when I’m river running I do a split screen that shows both. It’s nice to see corners and bends coming up, as well as channel markers. For this reason I’d go with the biggest screen you can fit.

If you’re a techy you can run your stereo and a camera through it as well, but I chose to leave the stereo Bluetooth so my wife and daughters can run it with their phones.

Good luck with this project, following, looking forward to seeing you get setup dialed and see the results.
A problem is only a problem when viewed as a problem...

My Checkmate has the Livorsi Vantage View gauges which are also very accurate if set up correctly. I will hook up to my new 9” Garmin soon. I’m old and still like the look of individual gauges.

With any luck, Johnny will have a big grin on his face and a (hopefully mild) case of frostbite tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

A view many might have of the cowl. I love the way Johnny keeps teasing me with this stuff.

Ok boys and girls. Here's the news we've all been waiting for. Johnny Saris just put the boat back on the trailer after a number of test runs on Lake George. Running a 30" Bblades Blaster 4 blade over the hub prop just a tick under the limiter, here's the big number:

Perhaps better yet, the boat didn't want or need a lot of trim to hit that number. With the old motor, hitting 77 MPH required a ton of trim. To say I'm trilled would be an understatement! I'm so glad I went to Performance Marine!
