I understand what you are saying Joe.......believe me I do. We have desecrated it in these last handful of years. Think about it in another light. God's view on marriage will never change.....never. What does He say and feel about marriage? That's all that matters in the end. So, its not about getting the govt involved...............its a covenant between you, her, and Him.

If you get the wife one right at the beginning, there is no need to ask what else you can or cannot buy................. just sayin! 41 years this past Oct.
My parents divorced when I was 10 in 1966. So have seen and felt the effects of that. and that was before divorce was so much a part of society
I get when the marriage isnt right its hell, but it also takes 2 to push/communicate to work out the daily grind

I KNOW that i got mine right first-go-a-round. Its a beautiful thing with the right person. But it also takes commitment.....when WE are not so lovable.
Congrats on the 41 yrs TOOLIN!! Congrats on anyone else who is up there in years as well. I just had my 26th and its an awesome statement to the world to have your bride on your arm for that many years.....I tip my hat to all of ya!!

Thinking about this a bit Keith, when was there really a good time (era) for marriage? Go back 150 years and more in our country and it was mostly based on strength in numbers. Find a sturdy woman, have a bunch of kids, work the homestead/farm, hope that the wife and child survived the pregnancy. When did it all go to crap in our country? Not sure if it was ever really that good, but more a matter of finding a person that you could build a life with. I know one thing for sure that changed traditional marriage in our country, Roe v Wade. But that is an entirely different conversation.
I know a few married couples that barely see each other. Separate bedrooms, schedules etc. This is a concept I just do not understand. But somehow, it works for them. Me and my girlfriend work way different schedules. But on her days working, I take naps so I can be awake when she is. Her days off, she does the same so we can be together. I used to work all the time, and I think the g/f is keeping me from working myself to death.
I might just hold off on the new truck so I can pay for a nice (Chuck E. Cheese) wedding for us. I know she would not like the court house type gig, but that she does not expect a big fancy type shindig either. Decisions, decisions.

No, it was an attempt at a spoof thread. Seen it somewhere else.
Choices were supposed to be, if you could have a good wife or a good truck, what would you choose:
GASOLINE
or
DIESEL
As far as marrying the g/f, I am still waiting for her to make an honest man of me. You know, it is a different world now.
