We been having a little different air show here on the west coast. Black and green helicopters going up and down the coast for a couple of weeks. These are not Iroquois, they are Apache's and Blackhawks. Moving fast and in groups. Something happening. They do have an awesome sound.

Way after the Navy blimp base closed , that was out on sw 152 st .. and before they started construction on Metro Zoo .. we'd drag race on the concrete ...
X-tream ... not to worry . The military hasn't used S. Fla since WW2 ...
Hawk + Nike Missile site locations ...
My favorite ... bunker #3 inside the park ..

Chaz--forgot about the Blimp on Watson. Do sure miss Chalk's though.

...those nuke missile sites were everywhere in america. by the hundreds. glad we never used them. by the time they were all up & operational, they were all declared obsolete & replaced with other design missiles that were less numerous because of their potency. scary stuff.

... stream, we had the same ones over here every day too, a year or two ago, that lasted a few weeks as well. lots of people took notice & were getting wigged out. they finally announced on the news, that they were just "training exercizes", training new pilots, etc. yeah right. who knows.

We have them (Blackhawks) here about once a month, training at the local airport (near zero air traffic)... I don't know if they repel guys down or just practice hovering; I can see the airport lights from my house but the action is usually behind the trees.

We still have missiles planted everywhere in the United State's .. maybe even a few outside our borders .. Never said we didn't.
Outdated and obsolete .. maybe, but unless you were here in 1963 .. you have no idea how important the Hawk and Nike missile sites were to the people of So. Florida. Those weren't Palm tree's Khrushchev was planting in Cuba ... Cooler heads prevailed, they cleaned out Cuba and JFK pulled our nukes out of Turkey . Fair enough.
Take the tour at the park some day .. watch the faces when they open that cute little barn ..

Thank God we had a President with a solid miltery back ground,

CUDA, I agree with your assessment of President Trump, but the way Kennedy handled Cuba was one of the top f*ck-*ps in American foreign policy history.
