Neighbor has a Johnson outboard with jet lower. Number on freeze plug is G2642477.
Can anyone tell me the year model based on this number? Thanks.

Identification numbers will be somewhere on the mid, usually on a little plate that is riveted to the motor. If you cannot find that, you are best off to snap a bunch of pictures of the motor with and without the cowl.
I tried running the numbers you posted and it came back to nothing. Not a motor, not a freeze plug, not a nothing.
If you want to identify it, get some picture posted here, especially the serial number.

I couldn't get anything to come up with that # either
I also tried with 0 in front like a mrec but didn't help. I thought that the rudes had 2 letters at end of the serial also

That freeze plug only having a serial number means the power head was replaced with a factory replacement at some point. With an original power head, the freeze plug will have the model number on it. If there is no plate or sticker either on the clamp bracket or swivel housing, then it's going to be fun figuring out what it is.... will need pictures of the cylinder heads (numbers) carb numbers, power pack numbers.... and dates you can find and over-all pics of the power head.
