Feeler: WTB Merc 2.5 200 complete outboard 20"

    Hey,

Just throwing it out there... I'm looking to buy a 200 2.5, preferably FF block, complete outboard w/20" mid.

Located in the Washington D.C. area, willing to travel some.

Let me know what you got...

    Thanks

Greg G, What are you looking to get for the x4 lower? That is the smaller diameter one right?

No, it is not the smaller. Internals are almost new though. I believe the XR6 was the small diameter but someone will confirm if that is correct.

xr4s were ALL small (as my understanding. Mercury did do odd stuf and I'm sure someone will say I'm wrong). xr6s came in 2 sizes: the small (4 1/4 and the standard 4 3/4).
The xr4 small and the xr6 small were different though, the xr6 small was srtonger. Someone else can comment on this though.

The xr6 is preferred for drag racing around here but none of the small ones can last long runs unless they are extensively worked out IMO

Wouldn't the small case be fine for recreational use on a 15' viper? I do typically do long WOT runs, sometimes as long as 10 miles... This would of course be with a stock 2.5 200 powerhead...

I should defer that to people who have run them a lot personally, I have not. I do know, however, that they are liked in the bass boat world and I have seen many XR4s come into the shop where I work that have hundreds of hours on the stock gearcase. I am personally lookin for one to try out, I don't think they are as bad as some people make them seem (but I want to try for myself).

But they do have less oil in them and run a little warmer. I know there is someone around who cuts sportmaster gears down to fit in this dia. case. Not sure if anyone makes the billet cariers and such to put in though.

I have complete FF motor ran strong when I pulled it but compression #s were low. Also complete EE motor was chasing an electrical or fuel issue. Wanted more power so grabbed an op for 225 promax's. So 2 complete motors minus lowers. Alien cowls included $2500Click image for larger version.
