    Laser Boats 420

Wondering who here has experience/ is familiar with these boats. Just picked one up and would love to find out more about them/ ask some general questions about setup.

Lets see that bad boy! The Laser design in my opinion is the best small boat/lake boat design ever made, very forgiving... out handles anything else... and very fast!

I have an '86 Laser. It's a 21' boat. 410,420? V6 Johnson, runs mid 70's with just me in it.

    I bought one new.

    Loved it.

    Did lots with it.
Raced anybody (never lost) that wanted, skied behind it, weekended on it.
Slept three in the Cuddy before.
    Great boat.

    Flies really nice.

Had mine across Lake Erie and back.

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

I owned the 420 in the Laser catalog with the 200 XP Evinrude on it. Great boat, I wish I could find it now.

Friend of mine has one with a 225x on it. It's not setup for top speed but will run 80. I think he has an 8" jackplate on it.

He is, but doesn't get on here much at all. I setup the boat for him mostly if you have any questions.
I never had a 420 but did have a laser 380 for a few years.

I am mainly curious on setback. I am deciding between 6,8,10. I have never run a 420, and there isn’t much info on them that I have been able to find. Just curious how it runs with 8 and if you think another setback would work better.

We added 2" spacers to try but it didn't like it much.
