    and for fyi purposes both 3.0and 2.5 torqmaster had 4 inlet holes on the side when they were first hatched but merc later changed it up for the 3.0 to 8 holes on the side then added the 4 holes in the nose , side plates came on the mkt in 98 i think lots of smoke hangin around these days, 3.0 early models also so were 8 spline same as 2.5 drive shaft , CLEs were as ive said many times went thru more changes then any other case i know of i currently have two prop shafts that are very early CLE both 13/16 dia with very ,very heavy carrier's but one has standard carrier bearing like consumer carrier the other is also a 13/16 shaft but has dual consumer bearings stacked end to end and proshaft has double bearing surface neither has drain in carrier later merc went to 1 1/4 dia shaft then carrier like sporty and torqmaster septin still no rear drain they eventually added them even tough cle was dropped in lieu of sporty

    My tm is an early one 2.5 it has a plastic water pump housing.hd internals.
    I may be slow but im ahead of you. *hit's only ankle deep but you went in head first.
