Flo-Torq SSR, hub, 2 stroke vs 4 stroke
Hey guys,
I have just found out that Mercury has a new propeller Hub "Flo-Torq SSR".
https://mercurymarine.widencollectiv...b-761aba9e12ef
It sounds good to get a hub that makes the gear shift more smoot. And i thought thats what I need on my Merc 260HP outboard, which need to idle a bit higher than other standrad 2,5L V6 Merc. But I learned that it seams that it is not suitable for 2 strokes,,,,. My question is why?
Kind Regards, ThomasLast edited by A164; 11-17-2020 at 12:58 AM.

I used them on several 2 strokes. Only problem is getting them out of your propeller/s. Will need a press or ar least a bottle jack and some make shift holding mechanism.

Hey DangerNewb,
Did you use the "Flo-Torq SSR Solid"?
Or did you use the "Flo-Torq SSR"?
Merc says that Flo-Torq SSR only goes for up to 225hp!

I used the Flo Torq SSR HD. Part 8M0101603. Mentions several motors with fat shaft up to 400 Verado. Finally sold mine with a prop since I wasn't shifting while running anyway and it was too hard to swap between props.

When I had a 225 Promax I liked the hub. Not perfect shifts but better. My 200XS idles at much lower rpm and does not need it. I paid someone to press one out of a prop

If it's a 260 and running more than 24 pitch just start in gear your gears and shift dog will thank you.
