Omc 300 v8 on 21 action?

Hey guys I'm on the process of getting this water tube seal replaced. Is there a trick or am I missing something for getting the can removed from mid we're my finger is pointing. thanks for any help or suggestions

Well I got the motor hung but it's bad news from there. I knew the transome wasn't in the greatest shape but I was hoping to get through the summer. Turned out that's not going to be the case. Looks like it's transome rebuild time and for me I feel like I should just do floor and stringers while I'm there. Here's some pictures just to what it looks like with the v8 on it.

Better finding out now than later. Go on and do the floors tree and stringers right and you will have something that will last. I had to do that with the V21 and glad I did it.

Ya I figure atleast I'll be able to really push it when it's done and not worry about it plus I'll drop some weight so it should run really good when done.

...Mantex core for the transom. CoreCell for the stringers & floor. Both available at Merritt Marine Supply in Pompano Beach or West Palm Beach warehouses. They also sell the bedding compound in 5 gallon buckets that you will need. If you go this route, the boat will never need recoring ever again...

Thanks fujimo I've never heard of mantex I'll have to look that up. Corecell Is foam correct? Also the bedding compound do you mean like corebond for bonding and setting stringers?

...yes, corecell is foam. easier to use than wood. divinycell is another foam core you could use also. either/or. both good. merritts sells it all. yes, corebond is just one of many different bedding compound brands, they are all very simular, just different venders, all usable for all the different foams. its just a name. divinycell's bedding material is called divelitte, again all the same just different colors to distinquish "their" brand. divelitte is blue. used to come in white also. nickname for bedding compounds, because they are so lightweight, is cake frosting, in the industry...lol.

...just a side note. merritts builds very nice sportfish boats. has for decades. they have'nt used plywood as a core in any of them in over 25 years... anybody that still uses plywood in ANY boat, new or used, these days, is a dinasaur.

Yes we just finished having our goldline redone in composite and did divincil stringers and deck and coosa transome so that's the route I was planning for this boat. I will definately look into the mantex too. I usually get my materials from Florida fiberglass in stuart they seam to have great prices and knowledgeable as well. Fujimo didnt you have a 21 action rebuilt?

...good. glad to hear. use anything but wood, haha. use vinylester also. much better secondary bonding characteristics than regular gp(general purpose) resins. also slightly flexible, as the name implies. when vinyl is properly catalized & cured, it is still mildly tacky to the touch and people freak out. no...thats the way its supposed to be. hence the excellent bonding trait. no, never redid an action.

Ok. Great advise thank you. Life is super busy right now we're starting a new business and a newborn on the way but hopefully within a couple months I can get started on it. it sucks having to do the rebuild but I'm excited to have everything new again and not to have to worry. As soon as I get started and make some progress I'll start posting pictures if anybody wants to see how it's going.
