I've run my last two Merc 150s with a skeg mounted torque tab and a cav plate foil. Both motors came from the factory with the flat cav plate anode- no fin, and both run just fine like this. My local Merc dealer has 3 different anodes in stock- one has the fin located such that it will hit many high rake props, a so-called "Offshore Tab" plate where the fin is offset to the rear such that it won't hit the prop, and the plain flat plate. My motors are mounted high enough such that the fin on the anode plate won't do anything at mid-range and higher speeds. The skeg mounted torque tab does a great job so that you don't really need the fin on the cav plate.

We always sawed the fin off the anode and ran the "torque tamers" on the skeg.

Put your heel all the way to the bottom to measure for shoe size?

Tab on the skeg makes the anode type fin redundant.
