    115 hp optimax oil filter?

Hi all. Need some advice. I understand the optimax has an in-line oil filter. Is that something that should be changed out regularly? I don't see any mention of this in the owners manual. Is it as simple as swapping the old one out or is there a process that needs to be followed such as bleeding the system, etc. Thanks for your help!

I change them out when I break into the oil system. new compressor or pump, hoses etc. You must prime the system whenever you open up a hose or such. So, I take this opportunity to change them. Some change them more frequently.

Keep in mind, if you plug one up, that can be the cause of failure for compressors or powerheads. Might want to consider it even if your not going in the oil system right now.

Thanks. So if I replace the oil filter, how easy is it to prime the system? How would I know if it is properly primed?

Can someone tell me the difference between priming the system and bleeding the system? Almost seems as if these terms are used interchangeably but to me they have different meanings. If just removing the inline filter, is it a matter of just bleeding any air out? I would think the system is still primed?? New to the Optimax and any help on this process is much appreciated!

You have to re-prime any air out of the system. Either a dealer with a computer or turn the key on and within 10 secs shift fwd to neutral and back 5 times and listen for the oil pump to activate. This puts the engine into break-in mode at the same time. Will use some x=tra oil, but it's not a bad thing. Make sure to check and fill the engine oil tank after.

So the oil pump will automatically prime the system and then it's ready to go. Will just use some additional oil until the "break-in" period is over. Thanks for the help. I enjoy learning about engine's new to me (I do my own PM's on my carb engine) but in the process of learning don't want to ruin anything either!
