There are no shortcuts with making transoms strong.
Its motor off and some serious rework.
Check to see if the old wood is rotten, if so then thats great because it then needs to be ripped to bits anyway.
Ive done an Aluminium one which was very easy and a Glass one which is very difficult.
In Glass, to do the job right Id allow .... a lot of hours

I know fletcher boats very very well. unless that boat has a rotten transom it will easy withstand the v6 200.. weight is definitely not an issue with the fletcher..
Do check inside by drilling in a few places just through the skin to see if the transom has any water ingress. if yes then it will need a new transom anyway even for a 50hp.
if you do end up needing to put ina transom then take the top off and do a proper job and make the knees nice and strong.
fletcher along with picton ,Shetland and most other uk boat builders were very safety conscious when putting on the plates telling you the power for the boats.
for example most of their dell quay range were downgraded by 20% to what they could realy take. their 17ft gto could easy take another 100hp more
and the whole range of fletchers were very downgraded on the safety plates.
fletcher 15 that went to Europe were allowed to have another 40hp , and yet were the exact same boat and built exactly the same. this was told to be at fletchers in Birmingham on
one of many visits to the factory in the 1980's 1990's and 2000's .
you look around and you will see loads of the big v6's on the back of boats just like yours from the fletcher stable..
Also fletchers outlasted most with the transom, due to them being better sealed than most others.
myself I would check the transom for strength then just go put a 175 on the back... pick up a 175 much cheaper than a200 .
and the ski pole will not even hold a 50hp....
