It looks weird, but that IS looking up from the bottom. The pointer in there points to a tab of aluminum on the bubbleback(sharpie marker area). Pic 5 shows the bback with the tab I am talking about......again, the same purple sharpie area. It just seems odd to be there...........

    Back at it some more

I did some work over the weekend and today. I have reshaped my adapter a little to remove the two bumps that coincide with the powerhead bolts at the back of the mota.

I also coated the pistons, tuner and adapter.

I hope that you can see in the pic on the left that there are 2 bumps at the back of the adapter. I added mat'l and then smoothed it down to eliminate any turbulence thru the adapter. I wasnt planning on doing this at the time I cleaned the part originally, or I would have taken a better pic.

    Next for the ceramic coating..........

I had already done the other two pistons, thats why I only have two here. I opted to remove the factory coating on the tops since they had only coated the deflectors, and left the crown raw. This is techlines cbc-2. The center pic is after blasting and before coating.

I did forget to mention I did weld up the idle reliefs over the weekend and ground the inside smooth inside the megaphone.

That's the latest. When I went in today, I forgot the bubbleback, so I still have to spray that too.....
But its getting closer to build time.

I notice you are using an early style adapter.......78-84 model year. Just curious what you were planning on doing for upper motor mount. if solid, how are you adapting it to work? Im in the process of trying to put an upper solid mount into my 78 140 Rude, only problem is the mounts guys are making are for the later style that use a plate to hold the mount down, not a 1 piece mount like your adapter requires

Tmasse24, I havent looked that far yet. I do have a solid mount that I was gonna use for my big bore 175 project. But I will try and remember to go get it and mock it up. Dont hold me to this, because my memory is not what it used to be, I thought I had a plate on this one as well. I had to literally drill thru my original mount at the yoke area to get it to separate from the steering head. I ruined the existing mount or I would have reused it, but I salvaged the the entire midsection.....which was my goal. Well worth the price of admission

Mr chaz, to avoid the blobbinz, the instuctions said to open your eyes when spraying. I caught that note just barely....right before I poured it into the gun to spray................but seriously though, I am quickly falling in love with waterborne stuff!!I have never used water based stuff in a hvlp gun. I love the cleanup. Pour in some water, adjust the nozzle to perc back into the cup and then spray water thru the tip .........done. I am used to the cleaning up with acetone and tearing the nozzle and needle down.......... this may have won me over with waterborne paint. But my clearcoat.....never.......I love SPI's clearcoat........never switching. I am thankful for cutting my teeth on auto painting before doing this whole coating thing.......it made this easy to adjust the gun and spray right..........which I still messed up the first time!! OH well.

BTW.....thank you for the thumbs up.........and I did have the curtain blobbins on the adapter on round 1........these pics show rd2

I paid $750.00 for the dies to stamp out the "newly reshaped" exhaust area, base gasket. After I break even ... yep, no problem. Till then ... it match's this --->

    Little more done today

ID:	477162I jammed a flashlight up in the bubbleback to get some more light in there....What a pain.

When i got in today, I wanted to get all this other stuff done. But painting and coating takes a long time........
So what I got done today was completing the paint on the midsection and getting the block coated in the exhaust ports and the lower exhaust cavity plus the BBack........I remembered it today............!

If you look at the midsection pic from earlier, this is the same , but I blocked it to remove any rough spots and create a new finish for the sealer to bite to. The primer had been sitting for a too long a time for me to feel okay and just shoot over it. I took numerous pics of the finished product.....its much shinier than it looks. The light and reflection.....tough to work out. it was 3-4 hours to get it from the left pics to the right........1 coat of white sealer, 2 coats of white color and then a coat of clear. Cooler temps dont help either.

ID:	477165 I masked off and coated the lower exhaust cavity and the bubble back as well. What I dont have a picture of is the aluminum around the exhaust ports. I took a q-tip dipped in the sauce and painted around the ports to complete the exhaust path being fully coated from motor to tuner with ceramic.

Basically today was get something painted, go and coat the other stuff, then go back to more paint, and then back to cooking the ceramic.......it was a back and forth. But, all that mess is finally done(I hope) and get focused on the build.

I also realized today, after looking at the intake manifold, that I needed reeds. Originally, when I ordered my parts from CC, I told him that wasnt needing reeds because. my other motor has the reeds done. I was just gonna swap the intake over. But since I dont want to tear into that mostly running motor yet( I may want to get more oysters), I need reeds. So, I went on EBAY and ordered me the reeds from Chris there. i know I could've called him, but I've been on the computer since I got home. So, when they come in this week, I will get the carbs and intake done, and maybe the powerhead done.

Here's what the original pistons looked like(not my motor then)
