What cause this 2.4 to grenade?
Well, the day has finally come when my old 2.4 laser **** the bed... Was running great across the lake at about 6k rpm, lost a bit of power for about 2 seconds, got real loud for about another 2 seconds then seized...
What do you reckon caused it? Does it look to you like the whole motor's been lean? Wasn't any piston dust on the #5 spark plug, looks like bearing cage material in the that rubbish tho?
Looking for a good powerhead in north island NZ if any of you are down this way!
Cheers
Gene

I have wondered about the quality of the "98" gas at the station I've been using lately, could have got a bad batch I guess... Switchboxes are only a couple years old but ya never know. I haven't touched the mixture or timing in the last couple years.
It's got a brucato ACU so don't imagine it's the cause - it'll go back to brucato for a checkup before being re-used/sold so we'll see

I hear the 220 laser ran pretty gud. Don't really c a 150 runnin with it but the 2.5 b easier to mod with steel sleeves
