if you could James Perry on here to splain all this you would know the 200 ff block takes the exact same sleeve as a 225 promax minus rod slots and some very large champhers or explain the fact that 260 ports are not as big as you might think he has installed 100's of sleeves for me thru the years he knows his stuff

I fell into the FF fascination. Had about 3-4 of them. Now I have an optimax and a 2001 Carb 200 with the o-ring heads. I can definitely say for 99% of the guys, it won't do much FF or EE.
Probably better off with an EE because you won't have to pay the premium.
But if I ever get another FF, I'll make sure to keep preaching about how great it is

How early?
I've got a 93 here.
OD240375
2.5 offshore carb
Edit.
Nup, EE is 200 small chest. (3 fingers fit in port)
FF is big chest ( 4 fingers fit in port)
Only 2.5 fishing motor with 7 petal other than pro max is the 1991 2.5L. (F)
Got all these motors.Last edited by NZ Sidewinder; 08-04-2023 at 05:03 AM.

I'm building a f block motor currently.
Interestingly the ff I'm working on as well only has the small exhaust plate ports
In contrast, a 1983 2.0L 150hp motor has a promax type 2 piece plate with the large ports.
That 2.0L motor also had a nice 9 ring crank without the oiler and big rods from memory.
From now on I will be grabbing those 2.0L motors as they come along

they're not talkin' bout tha exhaust exit at tha bottom of tha block.. they're referin' to tha cylinder exhaust ports.... all those things ya mentioned 'bout tha 2.0 are normal production........ 9 ring is jus pre oiler crank.....

Yes I realize that.
The ff is a 4 finger width exhaust port and the EE is a 3 finger width.
What surprises me is that even a ff with its 4 finger width cylinder port, only has a std size port in the plate and probably came off a small plate
Then the tiny cylinder ports of the 150 2.0L feed out through large plate ports.
Just all seems unusual to me that's all.

tha ff plate should have about tha same size adapter plate exhaust holes as tha 2.0 motor plate.. thats something i noticed years ago.. but most early 2.0's had long skinny tuners... tha difference in tha 2.0 (large rectangular) and 2.4 small, almost square) exhaust... not much difference in tha 2.0 and tha production 2.5 exhaust plate holes..... jus merc!.. guess they had it figured out..........
sounds like ya have a 2.4 plate if they're almost square.....Last edited by tlwjkw; 08-04-2023 at 10:28 PM.
