I feel truly blessed to own 2 of the much revered FF engines. Why don't we pick on the NN promax series for a while? What makes them so great?

EE's and FF's are pretty similar. Exhaust port on the FF is a touch higher at 1.595 vs 1.610 for the EE. There are slight shifts in the transfers as well but it's minor. The claim to fame of the FF is it has nearly identical porting to the 225 promax and has the same exhaust chest, whereas the EE has longer run ers in the exhaust chest. The craze for the FF has dawned from the prostock class in ODBA, where these are the best performers in fully stock form, probably do to the open exhaust chest and slightly higher ports. Keep in mind, this is on 600lb drag boats spinning 9500rpm, on a river runner the differences are negligible, and if you plan on modifying it, there is nothing you couldn't do to an EE, that you could to an FF. On heavier boats many prefer the EE, because you can still raise the ports but if you leave the exhaust chest with some metal in it the hole shot is noticeably different. If recollection serves me, a stock FF will dyno around 218hp, and I suspect an EE would be within 5-10hp. Lots of people enjoy making fun of people asking questions about FF blocks, but at the end of the day they are capable of 300+hp with porting just like any other Merc 2.5 and can be bought literally for $100 on Craigslist, as opposed to an 8k 260 power head . Grind on it and make power, or slap it together and have a workhorse. Have fun with it man

I thought I made that clear, the EE has got a little more on the bottom end but the FF has a little more up top . Different strokes for different folks

Hello everyone. Am I right that FF is better? Can someone share average prices so it will be visible difference between both of them? Thanks a lot.

There is no set price for ea motor, both run good. Ee better on heavier boat. Ff lite boats. Both can b grinded on to hot rod it. Ff no more expensive than ee unless owner thinks he has sumthin special
