The videos posted on this site, are How To boat restoration. Therefore they are to Nuts & Bolts precise, long and boring for the general vehicle enthusiasts to watch.
To gain a larger viewing audience (like some of the car shows) is good editing. Where over emphasizing on details is not the car show's platform. Good Editing on potential boat shows, will go a long way, to make the TV product more appealing to the larger viewing audience.
Just like some boat brands are better quality, likewise so are the Car Shows.

Would love to see hi performance boat show inboard and outboard, where they get hull like Wildman and take it from there all way to test drive and prop testing, thats all I'd watch!
Maybe throw in few rebuilds hulls and motor, even updating boats. I think there b plenty of interesting stuff to film besides the lay up (glass work)

Watching her pass out would make for good video!!!!
There would definitely need to be creative editing to keep interests up. But I would still like to see more boating stuff restos.........but I am privy to more wooden restos......being a woodworker. But I certainly wouldnt turn away a Hydrostream resto or the like either.

Most people have cars, so they gravitate in that hands on direction. Plenty of intuitive info for that.
Even if a rookie wants to restore and dial-in a hot rod boat the chances of success are poor. They can watch video's till the cows come home. Yes they will get the boat to float, but fast and safe is far off in the distance. I takes many boats through the garage to understand what's going on. It's a game of nanometers, and they're thinking inches. Nothing is obvious to the new guy. We can explain it to them, but we can't understand it for them.
Yet, the passion lives.

Don't forget that those car shows are paid for by advertising the parts they're installing. Also almost EVERY American has a car, less than a third have boats. Much narrower market. I agree it would be cool to see a boat show but I doubt it will ever happen...

Well , there is always .. Ship Shape TV . You can find John Greviskis @ Cracker Barrel in Stuart Fl. just about every day of the week ... American Yacht is right down the street .. home base for the show ..
Our own "Shadow Pirate" Nick Scafidi was the host back when he was part owner of Jupiter boats ...
