Makes sense, I have a 2.4 ridgeback mid as well and the only visual difference I see in mine from this one is that mine doesn't have the side covers (ala motor mounts) it's all flush. Hence my curiosity, thanks Dave!

Has anyone ever run offshore mid on little heavier hull ? Like 1k lbs or little more? Whats it gonna do to my hole shot with no slip? Prop changes? Or just save it for the lite boat?
BTW its the rig n pic below
...offshore midsections were developed for offshore race boats. hence the name. they were only available on complete offshore race motors. offshore boats are the biggest, heaviest boats that a 2.4 offshore motor was ever rigged on. that being said, they can be used on just about any boat, light or heavy without changing the motors performance. motor does'nt care. prop accordingly, as you would with any rig.

JMO......Off mids.....sand cast.... stronger than Die cast......Also when cles came out.... the exhaust by the carrier has smaller tube... no flare. So need for a snout. JMO.

Just ,,,,,I may be wrong.... I thought the gear case was a bit different above the carrier.......Looking down on the 2 CLEs I have the one carrier is bigger and the exhaust would be hampered......I might have been thinking of a L6 case.

Do you mean if your running a bigger pitch over hub exhaust prop and need the slip that comes w the over hub exhaust?
    Will it make a difference..

Are you running a chopper prop?
If not what are you running?
Like fujimo mud doesn't care about weight but prop and slip is different..
Does your prop need to slip alot on takeoff?
