Ok...Customer brought me a supposedly 1991 70hp Evinrude that needed to be rebuilt. Bored .030. Cut head .017 to clean up twist, and assembled with Wiseco pistons. I realized later that the block was an oval port non-bridged exhaust, which puts it in the 93 - 2001 range. Reeds are two stage Boyesen's, the head is late 80's vintage, and the best I can tell the carbs are early production 1989 with 65D mains and .033 air bleeds.
My question is will this carb / reed / piston / block combo have some problems? Are 65D's too fat? And if anyone knows the difference between early 431982 and late 433698 carb bodies? I assume it's probably bore or venturi size.
Lastly, is there a carb history spec sheet for johnrudes in existence somewhere?
Thanks Much;
Dwight

Ask Hounddog on this site. His racing group has played with this combination.
