So the motor could be an 8788 but then got warrantied in 90 and that's why it's stamped 90?

once you know the year and the size, should be pretty easy to plug into a website like crowleymarine.com to find parts and diagrams

The pic posted for your reference by Aaronhl shows his date code (01 13 94) and then 2 letters (FF) by where the block halves meet.
The question for you is what are those 2 letters by where the block halves meet, if they are there at all (they are down and towards the front of the motor about an inch from the date code)
