once you know the year and the size, should be pretty easy to plug into a website like crowleymarine.com to find parts and diagrams

don't remember tha early "production" motors havin' tha double letter deal... yours probably won't have a double letter stamp on it but tha "200" stamp in tha welsh plug tells ya that it a "2.4 chrome bore block" which in turn, combined with horizontal front half, laser fuel injection (XRI badge), tells ya its a 2.4 200 built in 1990.

Wow okay thank you so much for that information my last question for you will be how do I go about getting a serial number I could utilize for parts if I ever need two in the future? Or do I even need one

go to page below for your parts.. for some reason or another not all motors got tha serial number stamped on tha welsh plug or anywhere on tha block.. could be a factory replacement block also... be sure to reference your motor as a 1990 even though "it may be titled as a '91".. its still a second generation block.

...warranty short blocks were not serialed. the dealers were supposed to transfer the stampings, which most did not do. there was service bulletins reminding dealers to do this & where. most could care less and/or did'nt own a simple set of stamp tools.

So the motor could be an 8788 but then got warrantied in 90 and that's why it's stamped 90?

agree with FUJIMO.. way more DIDN'T THAN DID..........

tha motor (at least tha "rotating assembly") was BUILT on december 20th 1990 no mater when tha original 88/89 was replaced.. you may have all tha "bolt on" parts from tha 88/89 on it except tha ECU.. its oblivious with that number.

...maybe i'm too old to comment on this replacement powerhead warranty thing, lol. i speak from a time when engines were warrantied for one year only. if a powerhead was replaced under warranty, there was no way it could have been manufactured three years later...
