    Outboard Trailering Blocks

What are you guys using to block / lock your Mercury outboards in a raised position while trailering? I have a set of aluminum tubes with plastic ends that slide down the trailering rams on my 2.5 / 200, but I'm not particularly thrilled with them. (I'm not going to mention the brand.) Any suggestions?

    2x4 works.
i used a lacrosse stick, just had the head chopped off so the lacrosse basket was now a “Y” on the shaft. Dense foam in the crotch, and that was my engine prop, went down to the trailer. Simple, cheap.

Thanks, but I was looking for something a bit more elegant. I know there are products out there that folks are buying and using.

This is what I'm using right now: https://thmarinesupplies.com/product...ort-stick-pair

they are great, soo much nicer than those crappy little plastic clips, plus the handle makes it a breeze to snap on and off.

I am not sure I like any motor toter/hydraulic stops for the engine. when I trailer the boat, the motor is vertical and jacked to max on my plate, almost impossible to drag the skeg (I guess If I broke both axles on the trailer) and even then I think the trailer would hit and not allow the motor to touch...

but if you trailer with your motor tilted, I would definitely get one to protect the hydraulic ram.

I'd love to be able to trailer with the motor in the same position as yours, but unfortunately I can't. That's one of the joys of owning a deep vee hull. I'm seriously considering these products though!

Isn't the idea of a transom saver to take the leveraged stress of a tilted engine off the transom and transfer more of the weight onto the trailer? So the style that goes from the bottom edge of the mid or the top of the lower to the rear of the trailer? Like one of these?

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the "transom saver" style outboard supports. My logic is that the trailer is independent of the boat and thus moves and flexes at a different rate. Although theoretically they transfer some load to the trailer, I still don't like the possible additional movement. I'm going to try to stick with something somewhat internal to the clamp bracket and trim rams. But thank you.
