    Possible Two Stroke Resurrection?

    I have come across a recent invention, a "crankcase-independent two stroke": https://citsengine.com/

I cannot think of a better application for outboard power than this. Seems to combine the best of both worlds (two and four stroke) without the added complexity. You'll notice it's an extremely low-angle V, so it ought to fit in an outboard cowling quite nicely.

    Thoughts?

Good to see there are still companies researching and engineering 2-strokes. I seriously think behind the scenes that Merc is playing with the 2-strokes still.

This idea sounds like a real breakthrough in efficient and simple engines. Light weight, simple, big power to weight ratio sounds great for a boat or motorcycle or generator. Just thinking of the mechanical efficiency gains by eliminating the value train is huge. But What does it mean “no throttle” ?

Looks like a lot of reciprocating weight. Won't be drag motor for sure. Should have good torque.
